Nations FC defender Razak Simpson could be on the next flight and head to Wales to join the Black Stars following an injury relapse to defender Alexander Djiku which may rule him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Djiku reportedly picked up the injury during training and the Black Stars medical team are working around the clock to check the way forward for him to recover or replace him before final squad is announced as time is running out.
The official 26-man Black Stars squad is expected to be officially released this after by head coach Carlos Queiroz before Ghana face Wales in the international friendly tomorrow at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Simpson, who led Nations FC to win this season’s FA Cup trophy over Dreams FC on Sunday, stands as one of the favourites to fill in the void after previously having stints with the Black Stars and was even part of the team that lost 2-0 to Mexico few weeks ago.
Ghana have been paired in Group L at the World Cup and will face Panama on opening day on June 17 before locking horns with England and Croatia.
