A section of Asante Kotoko supporters leadership have reportedly apprehended an unidentified supporter of Swedru All Blacks over allegations that he was carrying a large amount of money intended to influence Kotoko player Patrick Aseidu ahead of Kotoko’s final league game of the season at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The unidentified person allegedly called Patrick Asiedu on phone and arranged payments but the player tipped him off to the club’s leadership and call recordings were handed over.
The suspect was dragged to Kumasi Central Police Station to write his statement after allegedly intended to handover $1,000 to the player and then complete payment after the game.
Swedru All Blacks currently sit 13th on the Premier League table with 42 points, one point above safety and are under immense pressure to secure victory against Kotoko in order to avoid relegation on the final day of the campaign. Aany result aside victory could see them going down while Nations FC, Vision FC and Heart of Lions survive if they record a win in their respective games.
- Amid the chaos, Kotoko, Swedru All Blacks and Ghana Police Service are yet to officially confirmed the alleged bribery claims.
