Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku has emerged as a transfer target for several top European clubs following an outstanding campaign with Turkish side Kasımpaşa S.K. in the 2025/26 season.

The 28-year-old centre-back played a crucial role in helping Kasımpaşa preserve their Turkish Super Lig status, delivering a commanding performance in their final game of the season against champions Galatasaray.

Opoku produced a disciplined and composed display against the league’s free-scoring side, winning 50 percent of the four duels he contested while maintaining a perfect tackle success rate.

The Ghana international also registered three clearances, two recoveries and one blocked shot as Kasımpaşa secured a vital clean sheet to avoid relegation after securing a narrow 1-0 victory.

The former Berekum Chelsea defender has been one of the most consistent performers for Kasımpaşa throughout the season, featuring regularly and establishing himself as a key figure in the heart of the team’s defense.

Before the crucial clash against Galatasaray, Opoku had already posted impressive numbers across the campaign.

In 29 Super Lig appearances, he played 2,341 minutes, kept seven clean sheets and helped his side concede just 31 goals, averaging 1.19 goals conceded per game.

Defensively, the Black Stars defender recorded 172 clearances, 30 tackles, 23 interceptions, 96 ground duels won, 49 aerial duels won, and 18 blocked shots, underlining his dominance at the back.

His composure in possession was equally evident, completing 1,032 successful passes from 1,152 attempts with an 89 percent pass accuracy rate. He also averaged 51.4 touches per game, alongside 2.4 accurate long balls and 1.6 accurate chipped passes per match.

Opoku’s impressive performances have attracted interest from clubs in England, France and Italy, with several European sides closely monitoring the Ghanaian defender ahead of the summer transfer window.
