Despite Leicester City’s relegation to League One, Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu has continued to attract strong interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with newly-promoted Premier League side Coventry City reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
Leicester are expected to sanction several player sales following relegation, and Fatawu is viewed as one of the club’s most valuable assets. A potential transfer involving the 22-year-old could provide the Foxes with much-needed financial flexibility as they prepare for life in League One.
Coventry are believed to be among the clubs considering a move for the Ghana international, whose performances this season have remained impressive despite Leicester’s struggles. The winger has registered 9 goals and 7 assists in 44 Championship appearances, making him one of Leicester’s standout performers and one of the club’s most consistent attacking threats.
Fatawu’s form has not gone unnoticed across England, with Everton and Sunderland also reportedly linked with the former Sporting CP player. However, Coventry’s recent promotion to the Premier League could place them in a strong financial position to move quickly in negotiations.
A transfer could also benefit the player’s development, as regular top-flight football is considered important for his progression. Fatawu, who has earned 27 senior caps and scored 3 goals for Ghana, remains one of the country’s brightest young talents.
The winger joined Leicester permanently from Sporting CP in 2024 for a reported fee of around €17 million and is contracted until 2029. His current market value is estimated at approximately €24 million.
Coventry are also exploring alternative attacking options should a move for Fatawu prove difficult. Fulham winger Harry Wilson, Swansea City forward Ronald, and Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas are understood to be among the other names on the club’s shortlist.
