Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara and team manager Kwasi Frimpong Amos, have been charged by Ghana FA following the club’s 1-0 away defeat to Karela United in Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Kotoko went into the game after recent poor run of results including defeats to Hearts of Oak and home stalemate against Vision FC. Things moved from bad to worse when they saw a red card early in the game against Karela and things looked messier than expected after the game as some of the players and officials allegedly charged on the referees.

“The duo have been charged after breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, following the Ghana Premier League game between Karela United FC and Asante Kotoko SC,” an official statement from GFA read.

“It is alleged that Mohamed Camara confronted and assaulted the referee using insulting and abusive language and gestures after the match, while Kwasi Frimpong Amos forcefully seized a red card from the referee and interfered with the referee’s authority.

“They have until close of Wednesday, 11 March 2026 to submit a response to the charges,” the statement added.
