CAF Awards 2022: Ghana’s Evelyn Badu makes history, Sadio Mane and others clinch glory in African football – Check Full Awards

Sadio Mane and Asisat Oshoala were crowned as African Player of the Year and African Women’s Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2022 held in Rabat, Morocco.
This year’s edition of the CAF Awards celebrated African footballers and officials who distinguished themselves during the 2021/22 campaign after two years due to the COVID-19.

Sadio Mane was crowned the African Player of the Year ahead of his former Liverpool teammate Mohammed Salah and his compatriot Edouard Mendy.

For the Women’s category, Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala was named the player of the Year for the fifth time in her career.

For the Inter-club Player of the Year, Egypt and Al Ahly goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy won the prize.

The Men’s Young Player of the Year award went to Pape Matar Sarr from Senegal whilst Bayana Bayana coach Desiree Ellis and Senegal coach Alliou Cisse picked the Coach of the Year male and female respectively.

However, Ghana’s Evelyn Badu win the Women’s Young Player of the Year and Inter-club Player of the Year awards.

Player of the Year (Women); Asisat Oshoala – Nigeria & Barcelona

Player of the Year (Men); Sadio Mane – Senegal & Bayern Munich

Inter-club Player of the Year (Women); Evelyn Badu – Ghana

Inter-club Player of the Year (Men); Mohamed El Shenawy – Al Ahly & Egypt

Young Player of the Year (Women); Evelyn Badu – Ghana

Young Player of the Year (Men); Pape Matar Sarr – Senegal & Tottenham Hotspur)

Coach of the Year (Women); Desiree Ellis – South Africa

Coach of the Year (Men); Alliou Cisse – Senegal

Club of the Year (Women); Mamelodi Sundowns – South Africa

Club of the Year (Men); Wydad Athletic Club – Morocco

National Team of the Year (Men); Senegal – (AFCON 2021 Winners)

Goal of the Year; Pape Ousmane Sakho – Senegal & Simba SC

NB: Women’s National Team of The Year will be announced on Saturday after the WAFCON final between South Africa and Morocco.
