Ghana and Accra Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo popularly known as “Dribbling Magician” has advised his former side to go for a coach with a track record for their upcoming African campaign.
Hearts of Oak finished at the sixth position of the Ghana Premier League with 48 points but they defeated Bechem United in the FA Cup final to book a ticket for the next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.
The Phobians after winning the GPL last season had a poor run in the CAF inter-club competitions, where they conceded ten goals against WAC of Morocco and Algerian-based JS Saoura.
The “Dribbling Magician” who also managed the Rainbows as a coach after his playing career insists the current team should go for a tactician with a track record before they go in for the CAF Confederations Cup.
Samuel Boadu, the current head coach has helped the team to lift five trophies within a year. He guided the team to break their eleven years trophy drought after winning the GPL and the FA Cup
However, Polo rather preferres a coach with a track record to make history with the team.
“I wish Hearts of Oak get a coach with a track record and who can add some value to the team going into Africa because I still don’t understand why the team can’t perform with these players,” the legend stated on Otec FM.
Accra Hearts of Oak remains the only football club in West Africa to have won a Continental Treble; one of 6 Africa-based clubs and one of 21 football clubs worldwide to have achieved this feat after winning the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederations Cup and the Super Cup in 2001 and 2004.
The former Ghanaian international, Polo is famously known for his dribbling skills and also assisting the Black Stars to win the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
