Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori and ex-King Faisal player Kwame Peprah are through to the finals of the CAF Confederations Cup with Orlando Pirates after a 2-1 aggregate scoreline against Libyan side Al Ahly Tripoli in both legs.

The South African giants lost by a goal to nil in today’s second leg fixture at the Orlando Stadium but their first leg 2-0 triumph helped them to advance courtesy of Innocent Maela and Goodman Mosele in Benghazi over the past weekend.

The Buccaneers have had an identical goal-scoring record over the same period, with their two goals at the Martyrs of February Stadium taking their tally to three in what was their second win in their last six fixtures, where they have also suffered two defeats.

Despite claiming a valuable away win in the first leg of the tie, the job wasn’t for the Buccaneers, who were praying to maintain their first leg scoreline to seal a place at the finals since their first appearance in a continental final after falling on the last hurdle in the same competition back in 2015.

Richard Ofori and Kwame Peprah both commenced the game for the South African side but Peprah was substituted at the 68th minute for Terrence Dzvukamanja.

Peprah 21, was in superb form and was rated 7.0 with Richard Ofori rated 7.5 after enjoying full time of the fixture in the goal post. He made six great saves and 43 passes.

Ali Bouargoub had the only goal for the visitors but it wasn’t enough for them to recover from defeat.

Pirates on their way to the semi-finals knocked out Tanzanian club Simba SC 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline in both legs.

The Buccaneers will face RS Berkane of Morocco at the finals.

The Moroccans qualified with a 4-2 aggregate scoreline over TP Mazembe.
