Ghana’s Godfred Opoku has officially qualified to participate in the final of the Men’s 400m at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships ongoing in Eugene, Oregon, United States.
The former Okomfo Anokye SHS youngster, who won Heat 1 with a time of 46.05s, produced yet another wonderful performance, by finishing in 3rd place of the Semi final 2 on Friday morning.
He completed the race with a time of 45.91s which was enough to help seal an automatic place in the final of the 400m. The final has been slated for Saturday , August 8 at 03:53 GMT
Meanwhile, Aishatu Jaffar aka Odo Broni, finished 7th in Heat 4 of the Women’s 400m Round 1 with a time of 56.39s. The results means that the former T.I Ahmadiyya student is out of the competition and would have to try next year.
With Opoku reaching the final of the 400m, Ghana is likely to at least have an improved number of athletes that will compete next year’s edition of the competition after having only two slots.
