Nations FC failed to breathe life back into their relegation struggles as they were stunned 1-0 at home by Vision FC at Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Sunday.
Ahead of the game, Nations FC needed a win at cost over their visitors as they were both tied on points. However, Emmanuel Annor and his compatriot failed to make use of the few half chances that came their way.
Goalkeeper Bariu Hadina, who has been a key figure in their run to the FA Cup final, turned from a hero to villain on the day. The shot-stopper gifted Vision FC a goal after a terrible mistake in the first half of the game.
Faruk Mohammed’s resilience paid off as Bariu failed to properly clear his lines, as his clearance was intercepted. With the goal at his mercy, Faruk calmly slotted the ball in under no pressure to send Vision ahead.
After break, Nations pushed men forward in pursuit of the equaliser but, Visions were resolute at the back. However, the pressure eventually had an impact on them. Nations eventually had a late penalty but then failed to score.
At the moment, Nations look set to go on relegation. They must now win their last game of the season against Karela United in Tamale and hope Young Apostles will fail to defeat Samartex in Wenchi.
