The selected athletes are Gladys Boateng of St. Louis Senior High School and Blessed Junior Owusu, both of whom have demonstrated outstanding performances in recent competitions. They will be accompanied by two experienced coaches: Mustapha Ibrahim of Effiduasi Senior High School and Francisca Azumah of Azantilow Senior High Technical School in Sandema Upper East Region.

A brief but significant ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to officially recognize and commend the selected individuals. The event was attended by the Honorable Minister for Sports and Recreation, who congratulated the athletes and coaches on their achievements and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined as they represent Ghana on the international stage.

Also present at the ceremony were key stakeholders in Ghana’s sporting ecosystem, including the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Mr. Richard Akpokavie, Esq., and the President of Ghana Athletics, Mr. Bawah Fuseini. Both leaders expressed confidence in the team’s potential and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting athlete development through international exposure and capacity building.

The Nairobi training camp is expected to provide the athletes with high-performance training, exposure to elite coaching methodologies, and an opportunity to compete and train in one of the world’s most renowned athletics environments.

This initiative underscores Ghana’s commitment to nurturing young talent and enhancing its competitiveness on the global stage, particularly in preparation for major international competitions such as the Youth Olympic Games.
