Accra came alive with patriotism and unity as government officials, corporate giants, entertainers, and private individuals gathered for a historic fundraising event to support Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to be hosted across United States, Canada, and Mexico.

With anticipation building for the global showpiece, Ghana has been drawn into a challenging group alongside England, Croatia, and Panama in a group already being described by analysts as one of the toughest in the tournament.

A Nation Shows Up

The fundraising event, held in Accra, saw an overwhelming show of support from key stakeholders determined to see the Black Stars succeed on the world stage.

Leading the contributions was Engineers & Planners with a staggering $5,000,000, followed by Gold Fields Ghana, which pledged $2,000,000 immediately and an additional $1,000,000 for future team activities.

Other notable contributions included Jewel Energy with $1,000,000 and an anonymous donor with $1,000,000. Also, the King of African Dancehall Shatta Wale together with his Hotwave Mobile phone company offering $100,000. Meanwhile, Stonebwoy made a donation of $81,000 + $20,000 campaign song production.
Also, Christian Salamony Game Technology with $2,000,000 as well as Alhaji Musah’s Timeline and Innovation Company with $300,000.

In local currency, companies such as KGL led with GHC10,000,000, while Serene Insurance added GHC2,000,000 plus a massive GHC20,000,000 insurance package for the team.

Additional support came from Icon Energy with GHC1,000,000, Abosokai Spare Parts Dealer who donated GHC500,000, Erata Motors paid GHC200,000, Nana Adjoo Baah with GHC150,000, Pay Angel coughed GHC100,000, while P & A African Food International and Degree Auto Mechanic donated $15,000.

Total Money Raised

The event recorded an impressive total of $12,096,000 (plus $20,000 for campaign music production) as well as GHC13,950,000 (plus GHC20,000,000 insurance package)

Concerns Over Injuries and Form

Despite the strong financial backing, concerns remain over the team’s readiness. Key players including Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, and Francis Abu are currently battling injuries, raising doubts about Ghana’s strength heading into the tournament. Additionally, recent performances have left fans worried, with inconsistent form casting a shadow over preparations.

Hope, pride, and expectation

Even so, the atmosphere in Accra was one of hope and determination. Speakers at the event emphasized that the financial support would go a long way in improving preparation, boosting player welfare and enhancing logistics and technical support

Fans and stakeholders alike are optimistic that with unity and proper planning, the Black Stars can rise above their challenges and make a strong impact on the global stage.

As Ghana gears up for another appearance at football’s biggest tournament, the message from Accra is clear: the nation stands firmly behind its team.

With financial backing secured and national pride at stake, all eyes now turn to whether the Black Stars can overcome injuries, rediscover form, and shine against some of the world’s best in 2026.
