Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah delivered a blunt post-match assessment of Nigeria after smashing them in the second group game in the ongoing CHAN tournament.

Sudan defeated the tournament favorites, Nigeria, smashing the West African giant 4-0.

Kwesi Appiah, although was certain about beating Nigeria, expressed his shock at the score line.

In a straightforward post-match, Appiah suggested that Nigeria’s underperformance was down to tactical and managerial shortcomings.

“I wasn’t expecting that scoreline,” Appiah admitted.

“I knew we could beat Nigeria but not [4–0]. The Nigerian team is not bad. They just need better coaching.”

The statement, made only minutes after the final whistle, is likely to fuel conversation across African football circles.

For Nigeria, the result means an early exit from the competition, cutting short a campaign that began with optimism.

Meanwhile, Sudan, with the win, are just a ticket to the knockout rounds. They lead the group with 4 points, tied with Senegal. They will need at least a draw to progress to the next stage.
