Former Ghanaian midfielder, David Ofei has given Asante Kotoko tips to play CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg clash against Rail Club du Kadiogo.

Kotoko enters the game as favorites to qualify following their dramatic win in the first leg courtesy of Isaac Oppong’s lone goal.

The former Porcupine’s advice to the Ghanaian champions is to guard against complacency in tomorrow’s game.

He also tasked the Porcupine Warriors to fight for victory before the end of the first forty-five minutes.

“To be frank with you, I couldn’t get the opportunity to watch the first game because I was a little bit tight but I’ve seen some of their preseason highlights but the outcome and the result weren’t good. I think the coordination is now coming because of the new guys.

“Getting into this second leg, the only thing I will tell them, and the reason why I am saying it is that in the first game the goal came very late. It means the Kadiogo team has a tight defense.

“Scoring a last-minute goal against your opponent means their defense is solid and super but coming back to Baba Yara, I think that guys have to put up their best to finish the game by the first half. They shouldn’t be complacent and I will advise about that. When complacency is set in if you don’t take time the opponent can have a goal here. They have to go all out and make sure by the first forty-five minutes they have to finish the game. They shouldn’t wait until the last minute. We know Asante Kotoko is ahead in this game but when complacency is set in it can cause a problem. They should make sure to finish the game in the first half.

“I can’t say is a done deal but Baba Yara has this spirit when it comes to supporters. Now the supporters will be hungry to come and see their players at the stadium and it should motivate them to finish the job in the first half,” Ofei told Ghanasportspage.com

In addition, he talked about the presence of the fans and how the players should make use of the huge support on Sunday.

“During my time as a player, when I see the supporters it rises my confidence level. Our fans are die-hard supporters. The support base has to do more and I know they will do it but it depends on the players. It should be motivation to the players for them to finish in the first half,” he concluded.

Asante Kotoko last won the CAF Champions League in 1983 by beating Egyptian giants, Al Alhy.

The team will hope to make it into the group stage for the first time since 2006.

The overall winner of the two-legged encounter will face the winner of the game between Gabrone United Sporting Club and AS Vita Club of DR Congo in the next round of the competition.
