The former Arsenal midfielder’s seems to be in further danger after new counts of rape were added to his already existing cases at the Crown Court in London on Thursday
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced this morning that additional charges against Thomas Partey relate to a separate report of alleged non-recent offences dating back to 2020. The new charges follow a fresh investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police, with the allegations first reported in August last year.
Partey, who has previously denied the earlier allegations in court, is accused of offences said to have occurred in 2021 and 2022 during his time as a regular player for Arsenal. The 32-year-old was formally charged four days after leaving the North London club at the end of his contract in June.
He currently plays for Spanish side Villarreal. While his bail conditions do not restrict him from playing football, he is required to inform police at least 24 hours in advance of any international travel and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.
A CPS spokesperson confirmed that Partey has already been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in connection with allegations made by three women relating to incidents between 2021 and 2022.
The spokesperson further stated that the latest charges concern a separate report involving one additional woman and stem from a renewed Metropolitan Police investigation. Partey is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March for his first hearing.
