World-renowned combat sports icon, Francis Ngannou has stuck his neck out with a massive financial gamble, staking on Cameroon to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The former UFC heavyweight champion has officially waged €320,000 bet on his home nation, Cameroon to clinch the trophy.

In a statement shared with fans and the media, the Cameroonian superstar expressed his unwavering support for the Indomitable Lions.

“Good luck to all the participating countries in AFCON 2025,” Ngannou stated.

“Make us proud, guys. I’m betting everything on our Indomitable Lions. With odds at 21, it was hard to resist.”

The wager is particularly striking due to the high risk and potentially astronomical reward. By taking advantage of 21/1odds, Ngannou stands to make a life-changing return—€6.7 million potential payout if Cameroon can secure the continental trophy

While the potential payout is staggering, the move is being viewed by many as a powerful psychological boost for the national team.

The Indomitable Lions have a storied history in the tournament, but they aren’t the primary favorites this year. However, as a five-time winner they’re chances they are expected to have a decent run in the tournament.

Cameroon kick start their campaign with a slim 0-1 victory over Gabon as they are now tied with Ivory Coast at the top of Group F.
