Is Ogum the master tactician now?

The Porcupine Warriors seem to have overcome a troubling situation and now aiming for flawless victories

Just few weeks ago, a section of Asante Kotoko supporters wanted Prosper Ogum Narteh sacked including the man who is carrying him called Nana Pooley.

Kotoko were in a turmoil and Ogum was berated after each game since they failed to pick a win in five games. The mighty were falling as they lost four games and shared the spoils once in a game against newly promoted Basake Holy Stars. Some of the fans even went as far as questioning his academic credentials because they could not understand how a PhD holder was not having answers to a peculiar situation at the club.

Among the first criticisms from fans was, of course, the finishing because Kotoko were unable to score more than a goal in games and that also meant that since their defence was not that resolute, whenever an opponent scores, it meant they will either lose or draw.

With the clouds closing in on him and a sack looking likely because the next games were against Aduana Stars in Dormaa Ahenkro [where it was beyond football] and Hearts of Oak in the biggest game of the first round, Ogum has turned things around.

Now, Kotoko seem to have got up to speed and are scoring to a frankly monstrous level, as per their last two games. Two wins out of two, with three goals scored and zero conceded. Fortunately, there is a sigh of relief and a glimmer of hope that Kotoko could continue their pursuit for the Premier League title since despite sitting in fifth position, they are only three points behind table toppers Heart of Lions.

Christmas seems to have come too early for them as they are in joyful times. Kotoko will now face relegation-threatened Dreams FC away on December 21 before they host Gold Stars from Bibiani at home on the eve of Christmas and these games don’t even scare the supporters unlike the fears they harboured few weeks ago.

Go Krobea, and continue to Prosper, Ogum!
