The Sudanese national team have been left stranded in Morocco following a decision to change the venue for their upcoming clash against Niger in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.

The fixture which was scheduled to be played in Morocco on Thursday, has been moved to Togo by CAF.

Sudan, however, currently find themselves in a distressing situation due to the late information given to them, having arrived in Morocco a week ago for preparations.

With less than 48 hours left to kick-off, the one-time African champions will be forced to make an unplanned trip on Wednesday to Togo for the make-or-break encounter.

Kwesi Appiah, head coach of the visitors spoke to Ghanasportspage.com about how the team is affected after receiving the news.

“We arrived last week only to be told Niger has changed their venue. It has affected us and we are worried,” the gaffer stated.

Sudan have proven a formidable opponent since Appiah’s appointment, boasting two wins, on draw and one defeat in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The nation affected by civil war, need just one point from their last two games to secure a place at the finals over Ghana and Niger.

Based on the evidence of how good they’ve been, especially since the appointment of Kwesi Appiah in September 2023, it would be unbelievable for Sudan to fail to qualify for the tournament.
