Coach Ibrahim Tanko was left less than pleased despite his side’s 3-2 win over Congo in their opening fixture at the ongoing TotalEnergies U-23 AFCON on Sunday.

The gaffer could not hide his anger at his players, saying the two goals Ghana conceded were “unacceptable.”

The Black Meteors were ahead 3-0 after 90th minute but their defensive errors handed the debutants the chance to score two quick goals in the additional minutes.

Coach Tanko seemed to be okay with the result but he was disappointed with the errors that saw two goals conceded in the dying embers.

“I think I’m happy we have the three points but at the same time I’m very angry about my players because that two goals we conceded after the 90th minute were unacceptable,” he said.

The tactician also explained why he substituted Ernest Nuamah and his centre-back, Terry Yegbe from the game.

“I mean we had to make the changes because our centre-back and Nuamah were feeling tired. We have two days to prepare for the next game so I think the three points is very important but the two goals were not acceptable.”

Ghana will return to action on Tuesday with a crucial Group A clash against hosts Morocco, while Congo Brazzaville will also take on Guinea in the day’s second match. In the opening match on Saturday, Morocco secured a 2-1 victory over Guinea.
