However, in an interview with the team’s gaffer, he confirmed the player’s call-up and explained why he was invited.

“Yes, I have invited Caleb Amankwah. I needed a central defender, somebody who can play from the central defense, and the holding midfield. That’s why invited him,” Annor Walker confirmed to Ghanasportspage.com

Caleb, 25, has been consistent in the local league since last campaign in the Rainbows set up for both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

He has scored two brilliant goals in seven games in the ongoing season and has appeared as one of the key defenders for the team this season.

He is joining the likes of Seidu Suraj, Gladson Awako, Konadu Yiadom and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

The Black Galaxies are already in camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence – Prampram for preparations towards the competition which starts from January 13 to February 4, 2023, in Algeria.

Ghana have been paired alongside title holders, Morocco, and debutants Madagascar and Sudan in Group C.
