Former Ghanaian international, Emmanuel Armah Senegal is highly optimistic that his former club, Hearts of Oak will trounce ASR Bamako to qualify for the next stage of the CAF confederations Cup.

The Phobians lost 3-0 to the Scorpions on Saturday in the first leg held in Bamako.

However, Armah Senegal believes his former side can do the impossible ahead of their second-leg clash with Bamako in the Confederations Cup.

Hearts will face a high mountain to climb for a final qualification place as they need to win with at least a four-goal margin to stand a chance.

When speaking ahead of the upcoming fixture against the Malian side on Sunday, Armah Senegal ruled out the impossibility that the Phobians cannot qualify.

He believes the team can repeat the 2006 record against St. George of Ethiopia when the Rainbows overturned a 4-0 defeat to qualify with a 5-0 victory in the return leg.

“We’ve done it before. Years back we went to play St. George of Ethiopia [during the time of Don Bortey, and Ishmael Addo] and they defeated us 4-0 but we overturned things with a 5-0 scoreline in Obuasi before they stopped playing if you could remember that year. That’s why we say ‘Never Say Die Until The Bones Are Rotten’.

“Let’s pray and see what will happen. Let’s see what God will do.

“I am with most of the players at the Black Galaxies now. I know most of them. They are doing well but sometimes is not just about playing but those who will encourage you like former players”, he told Ghanasportspage.com.

“Check the Brazilian national team and Italian team. Check their beaches. Most of their technical team members are former players. Sometimes when you see those people on the bench it motivates you to do something good so that your name will be mentioned in the future.

“The white men do certain things for us to learn. On the bench, they show love to each other and the players will also try and step up to play like Armah Senegal, Mohammed Polo, Stephen Appiah, Emmanuel Quashie Abedi Pele, Osei Kuffour, and others. That’s how it is. We have legends in Africa but we don’t want to appreciate them.” Armah explained to Ghanasportspage.com
