CAF head of operations and media relations officer, Luxolo September has declared his undying love and support for one-time Continental champions, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Founded on November 11, 1911, in the then Gold Coast, the Rainbows became one of the top clubs in Africa after conquering in the year 2000.

The club is also one of the most successful clubs in the Ghana Premier League.

However, the GPL giants are Ghana’s oldest football club. Additionally, it is amongst the most celebrated in the country because of its triumphs locally and abroad. The football club, affectionately nicknamed Phobia, has been a significant part of Ghana’s pre-eminent clubs, bringing home numerous trophies. Indeed, they have quenched the country’s and continent’s appetite for impressive football tactics on the field with their amazing play in various instances.

Luxolo speaking in an interview said he supports the Ghanaian clubs but he is a fan of the Rainbows.

“I like them all but I like Hearts of Oak most. When I was young you know I use to watch Hearts of Oak games when they came to play in South Africa for sometime and it was a big brand so I still follow Hearts of Oak. I’ve got a jersey of Hearts of Oak in South Africa. Although I support the other teams as well,” Luxolo September told Ghanasportspage.com

The team continued its domination of the football scene in Ghana by winning six out of twelve competitions. They are the custodians of the trophy, winning the last one in 1954.

Hearts is aiming to conquer the continent again when they play in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup.

They will travel to play ASR Bamako in the first leg of the competition’s preliminary round after winning the Ghanaian FA Cup.
