Headache in Kotoko camp as club officials set to arrange with Cameroon coach Rigobert Song on Etouga

Aspiring league champions Asante Kotoko are said to be fidgeting with the idea of arranging with the Cameroonian FA on how to make better use of Cameroonian striker Franck Etouga Mbella. The Kotoko striker who leads the goal king chat in Ghana is part of the team invited for Cameroon’s Afcon qualifiers, which means Kotoko will miss him for two matches.

With the Fabulous club losing their last match against Chelsea which cuts their lead into 6 points and also facing their chasers Medeama, the club had no choice but to strategize ahead.

A source indicates to ghanasportspage.com that Kotoko is in touch with coach Rigobert Song and the FA if it’s possible to allow the player to honor some of the matches before being released to his country or if he will be released back to Kotoko early after the matches.

The Porcupines are set to lose their poster boy and the top scorer of the Ghana Premier League, Frank Etouga Mbella on week 31 game against Medeama SC this weekend and the outstanding game against Ashantigold on June 2, 2022 should the league continues during qualifiers.

The prolific attacker will join his mates in the Cameroonian national team for their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Kenya and Burundi on 2nd June and 8th June.

Franck Etouga Mbella earned a maiden call-up into the Cameroonian national team last week ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

He has been a key figure for the Ghana Premier League giants in the ongoing 2021/22 campaign.

The 22-year-old who joined the club from AS Fortuna de Mfou has scored 19 goals in his maiden season as the top-scorer.

The promising striker was a member of the Cameroon U-20 national team in 2020 and was named on the team’s squad list for the UNIFFAC U-20 Nations Cup which also serves as qualifiers for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

He scored one goal in their 3 – 1 victory over Congo. Cameroon won the competition and qualified for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Mbella however missed out on the squad for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

He is expected to be named in the Cameroon World Cup squad.
