Retired and experienced Ghanaian goal-stopper, Abukari Damba has told Ghana boss Milovan Rajevac to use Swindon Town goalkeeper Jojo Wallocott as the first choice in the AFCON.

The 1992 AFCON finalist insists the young man stand tall among the rest (Richard Attah, Manaf Nurudeen, and Lawrence Atizigi).

Exactly 4:00 PM (16:00GMT) today, Ghana will start the AFCON journey against Morocco at the Amadou Ahidjo Sports Stadium in Cameroon.

Damba opened up on this message during an interview with Isaac Ganyo Tamakloe, writer of ghanasportspage.com.

“All I think I can say as a professional, we have had qualifying games where we have had goalkeepers who have been used, and Wallocott has been the trusted and the reliable one who played in almost all the games and so far as I am concerned he is the most prepared over the period. Opportunities were given to other goalkeepers to show what they can do and what they can have but they did not leave up the expectation but that does not mean they might not be ready, but evidently and practically Wallocott should be the ideal situation.

“It is not about what I think but practically and also evidently Wallocot has been the goalkeeper who has been tested over time since the qualifiers and he has not been bad at all. He’s lived up, he’s improved game after game and I believe he still stands the tallest among the rest of the goalkeepers so Wallocott should be the first choice.” Damba concluded.
