AFCON 2021: Title holders, Algeria trails Ghana in a test game

The Desert Warriors of Algeria trailed the four times champions, Ghana in a test game by a lone goal late afternoon today in Qatar as part of their preparations for the African Cup of Nations title race.

The Desert Warriors are yet to taste defeat after beating Ghana to extend their unbeaten record to 40.

At eighth minute of the game, Algeria had the first goal courtesy Adam Ounas and also grabbed the second through an own goal from Columbus Crew skipper, Jonathan Mensah. Islam Slimani made it three at the 80th minute for the title holders.

Ghana are expected to jet off for Cameroon on Friday, 7th January to adopt the weather before their opener against Morocco on Monday.

Algeria will also compete in group E with Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea for their title defense race.
