CAF U-23 AFCON: Coach Tanko names 21-man squad for Egypt

Ghana U-23 side Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko has assembled his team of players for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt this month.

The team made of 21 players are expected to represent Ghana at the U-23 AFCON tournament and secure qualification to represent Ghana in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The African continent is entitled to three slots at the Olympic Games next year and coach Tanko and his technical team are expected secure one of the slots for Ghana.

The U-23 AFCON tournament has been scheduled to start on November 8 and end on the 22nd.

Ghana has been drawn into group A along with hosts Egypt, Mali and Cameroon.

Below is the full list of the 21 players invited for the tournament:

Defenders: Kingsley Fobi (CB Badajoz, Spain),
Edward Sarpong (Esperanca de Lagos, Spain) Emmanuel Cudjoe (Attram De Visser),
Fuseini Zackaria (Berekum Chelsea), William Ntori, Dankyi (Hearts of Oak),
Mohammed Habib (Asante Kotoko), Robin Polley (ADO Den Haag)

Midfielders: Evans Osei Wusu (Tema Youth), Simon Zibo (Vitoria
Guimaraes, Portugal), Nurudeen Abdul-Aziz (Vision FC), Emmanuel Addoquaye
Lomotey (Extremadura, Spain), Yaw Yeboah (Celta Vigo, Spain), Evans Mensah (HJK
Helsinki, Finland), Michael Agbekpornu (Dreams FC).

Strikers: Frank Arhin (Dalkurd, Sweden), Kwabena Owusu (Cordoba, Spain)
Ropapa Mensah (Nashville SC), Samuel Obeng Gyabaa (Real Oviedo)
