Ashantigold SC is competing in the ongoing Confederations Cup competition campaign, having played first match in the preliminary stage against Akonangui FC in Equatorial Guinea, with all finances for the trip provided by Champion.

The outstanding Ghanaian businessman, considered to be one of the millionaires in the country has bemoaned the course involved in financing a club to play in the continental competition. Champion made the hard admission in an interview with Rockson Adjei Yeboah, host of the nationwide sports show Focal Sports on Fox FM on Thursday.

“It’s very difficult, very difficult but by God’s grace God has seen us through”, Dr. Frimpong said, speaking to Fox FM.

He added that the expenses becomes greater whenever the team has to make a trip to play away from home and there lies the difficulties.

“It’s difficult, only loses, every stage you reach is full of expenses and loses but God has taken us through”, he admittedly cried out.

Ashantigold picked a point from the first leg against Akonangui FC when they held them to 1-1 draw in Equatorial Guinea and are now poised to get the job done on Saturday at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

Akonangui are expected to arrive in Obuasi today ahead of the match on Saturday and the Ashantigold president says his charges are prepared for the match and confident of winning.

“For the preparations we’ve prepared very very well and there will be victory [for us]”, he said.
