Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah has a lot to worry about after key player Christian Atsu was ruled out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt following what appeared to be a hamstring injury he picked in Stars 0-0 drawn game against Cameroon last Saturday.

The Newcastle United winger was forced off after just 14 minutes into the match after he went down with the ball on the flanks, grabbing the back of his right thigh, a gesture which indicates a hamstring injury.

At the pre-match conference ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, coach Kwasi Appiah told the press that Atu’s condition doesn’t “look good” after scan, casting doubts over his availability for selection on Tuesday against Gunine-Bissau.

After several tests, Black Stars medical doctors have disclosed to FOX Sports that the 2015 Equitorial Guinea AFCON best player will not be able to play for Ghana for the reminder of the tournament which ends on Friday July 19.

Atsu’s injury proves costly to the success of Ghana in the tournament considering his enormous contributions to the team, but tournament debutant Samuel Owusu will be available to prove his worth in the absence of the Newcastle United star.
