Kumasi Asante Kotoko have arrived in Lusaka, Zambia ahead of the final group match of the CAF Confederations Cup against Zesco United on Sunday.

Kotoko left the shores of Ghana on Wednesday through Ethiopia where they passed the night before regrouping at the Bole International airport in the early hours of Thursday to catch their last flight to Zambia to prepare for the match against Zesco, a match which club official Edmund Ackah described as a “do and die” affair.

“We are going into this match as a do and die, that’s the only thing we know, we are not going there to joke”, Ackah told FOX FM before the team departed for Zambia.

The Porcupine Warriors touched down in Lusaka on Thursday afternoon and have moved to their hotel in Ndola where the team will be based till Sunday when they face Zesco in the same city.

Coach Charles Kwablan (CK) Akonnor named an 18-man squad of top quality who look forward to getting the job done in the absence of the club’s leading attacker Sogne Yacouba who did not travel with the team to Zambia and will miss the Sunday ultimate showdown through suspension.

CK Akonnor and his boys need only a win on Sunday to seal qualification into the quarter-finals of the competition. Kotoko sit third in group C with 7 points and a win against Zesco on Sunday will move them to 10 points, to secure qualification.

Nkana FC lead the group with 9 points and have already arrived in Khartoum to play Al Hilal Omdurman who is placed second in the table with 8 points, but should Kotoko beat Zesco who lie bottom with 4 points on Sunday to go 10, a draw will see Nkana qualify at the expends of Hilal who need nothing but a win to go through.
